Tech Designer

Responsibilities

  • Assists the design team in the development of designs by refining complex technical shop drawings.
  • Attends team meetings to coordinate design requirements, options and ideas for building the project.
  • Follows best practices of design and fabrication by building a robust network of connections to skilled trades workers and project management, as well as advocating for design studio standards throughout the design process.
  • Revises designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made due to design intent changes, review comments, and construction, eventually resulting in as-built drawings.
  • Participates in the QA/QC process for their work product drawings and specifications to ensure overall accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders, as required.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Values and models, the solution provider and profitability culture.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Design, Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline (or trade experience or equivalent) preferred.
  • Some co-op or relevant experience in a Design, Architecture, Engineering, or Construction environment preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD 2D & 3D with a working knowledge of Rhino, Revit, or similar software.
  • Basic knowledge of design, architectural, and/or engineering.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawings and constructability, 3D modeling, and/or BIM coordination.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable systems.
