Here's how a(n) Field Business Manager for our Denver office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • All responsibilities related to FBM 2 apply to overseeing accounting and administration for assigned district projects.
  • Oversees, monitors, and approves the daily/weekly/monthly/yearly accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and others as required, in accordance with legislative, contract terms, and PCL policy and procedures.
  • Implements, monitors, and ensures adherence to district/company administration and accounting policies and procedures to ensure continued effectiveness of the project finance and commercial risk staff.
  • Reviews and analyzes all project adjustments, submissions, and reports and ensures they are completed in a timely manner. Follows up and manages any issues, problems, or discrepancies.
  • Monitors, reviews, analyzes, and ensures accuracy for all monthly forecasting, district/project recoveries, and various other reconciliations.
  • Provides various ad hoc reports and analysis, then presents information to accounting manager and/or project team.
  • Oversees the review and analysis of all month-end and year-end project reporting. Raises any issues, problems, or discrepancies with manager, Finance and Commercial Risk.
  • Assists accounting manager with the preparation of the district year-end binder, with mid-year/year-end financial reporting as required.
  • Works with operations management and accounting manager to effectively analyze and manage project cash-flow and provides recommendations accordingly.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all required documentation, including insurance, bonding, SDI, workers compensation, statutory declarations, and lien waivers is in place and renewed accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related discipline.
  • Accounting designation an asset.
  • 8 years of progressive experience with direct project administration and accounting in the construction or a related industry preferred. On-site project experience preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advanced construction knowledge; understands general construction terms and processes.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of full-cycle accounting, with the ability to teach and mentor more junior staff. Advanced understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash-flows, with ability to analyze and recommend potential strategies.
  • Expert understanding of project forecasting and budgeting.
  • Expert knowledge of project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/ subcontract requirements as related to accounting.
  • Understands and complies with all labor agreements, government legislation, and PCL policies and procedures.
  • Expert knowledge of government legislation regarding accounting and applicable generally accepted accounting practices and standards.
  • Intermediate knowledge of contract/construction law in relation to tender documents, project contracts, and claims management.
  • Understanding of Lean principles and process improvement.
  • Intermediate knowledge of bid and contract securities and insurance as they relate to risk management, claims management, pricing, and accounting.
  • Expert understanding of subcontract PO terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance (SDI) and bonding requirements.
  • Intermediate ability to explain and negotiate subcontract terms and conditions.
  • Advanced understanding of owner contracts as they relate to payment terms, billing requirements, audit rights, and cost-of-work definition, insurance, and bonding.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

The salary range for this position is between $107,000 and $137,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
