The Sustainability Compliance Manager will plan, advise, track and implement compliance strategies related to Climate Risk Reporting and other sustainability regulatory requirements. The successful candidate possesses construction or real estate development related sustainability expertise. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure compliance with current and future regulatory requirements relating to sustainability and risk reporting.
As a Sustainability Compliance Manager, you will be based out of one of the following a PCL Offices: Denver, Edmonton or Toronto. You will contribute to our team by:
Responsibilities
- Planning and implementing compliance strategies related to PCL’s climate risk reporting regulatory requirements – procure and manage 3rd party expertise where required, produce and/or manage 3rd parties to produce climate related risk reporting (TCFD) as per applicable regulations. Develop and implement mitigative plans to respond to risk reporting findings (Climate Action Plans).
- Facilitating cross-functional climate risk working group – collaborating with other departments such as Finance, Corporate Risk, and Operations.
- Staying up to date and taking a proactive approach to compliance with applicable regulatory requirements in North America and other PCL operating areas.
- Developing and implementing mitigative plans (Climate Action Plan) to proactively respond to climate risk and other regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge and experience with government GHG requirements and accounting practices.
- Helping to drive decarbonization projects for PCL to achieve its GHG reduction targets. These projects include but are not limited to: Jobsite decarbonization, fleet electrification, low carbon procurement (corporate and jobsite), and owned asset decarbonization.
- Supporting efforts to execute PCL’s Sustainability Roadmap and Strategic Plan.
- Supporting districts and project teams in providing our clients with the necessary expertise to assist them to profitability develop, design, construct, and operate projects to achieve the highest level of sustainability while meeting their goals.
- Developing partnerships and networks that can be used to enhance PCL’s portfolio of sustainability service offerings to our clients.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the internal and external sustainability communications and marketing plan including sustainability/ESG reporting and materiality assessments
- Supporting development of sustainability operating guidelines, sustainability report, materiality assessment.
- Supporting development and tracking of sustainability/ESG indicators and targets.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in environmental science/studies, engineering, architecture or business coupled with expertise and experience in the construction industry.
- Minimum of 8 years of sustainability and environmental management experience, with proven ability to manage complex sustainability strategies. Construction or real estate development experience preferred. Experience with risk management processes and scenario analysis preferred. - Excellent data analytics skills
- Sustainability certificates and LEED accreditation are considered assets.
- Ability to envision and communicate creative, cost-effective, solutions to meet business needs.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and proactively address challenges or gaps in sustainable construction.
- Strong customer service and solution provider abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Understanding of GAP accounting practices and alignment with organizational ESG and sustainability goals tracking and reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence effectively and implement organizational change.
- Willingness to travel throughout the United States and Canada

The salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $144,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
