Here's how a Worker's Compensation Specialist for PCL Construction Enterprises, Inc. within US Head Office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Work closely with our Workers' Compensation Claims Manager, and the Health and Safety and Risk Management Departments to assist with management of workers' compensation claims venued throughout the United States.
- Assist with coordination, management and oversight of workers' compensation claims with external Third-Party Administrators ("TPAs") broker partners, and outside counsel for the entire lifecycle of a claim from notice of loss through resolution.
- Work with our Health and Safety and Risk Management Departments to provide oversight, guidance, and direction on claims in accordance with PCL best practices. This includes all major phases of claim handling such as coverage, investigation, compensability, medical management, disability management, evaluation/reserving, recovery, and resolution.
- Facilitate consistent communication between internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on strategy and optimal claim resolution.
- Monitor TPA and outside counsel performance and contribute to periodic audits and claim reviews.
- Monitor and provide input on companywide claim trends and data points.
- Ability to assist team members to develop knowledge and understanding of workers' compensation best claims practices.
Qualifications
- Certificate, degree, or diploma in disability management or a similar field with related experience. Relevant designation such as National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is an asset.
- 2+ years' experience adjusting and/or supervising workers' compensation claims
- Knowledge and experience handling workers' compensation claims from first notice through resolution.
- Ability to positively influence relationships including setting expectations, evaluating, and holding individuals accountable for delivering desired outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate claims particulars to personnel unfamiliar with workers' compensation matters.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and a mindset for continuous improvement of internal processes and positive development of internal and external relationships.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, including an ability to effectively partner with internal practice groups, TPAs, brokers, outside counsel and insureds to produce desired outcomes.
- Ability to travel throughout the U.S. on a periodic basis.
The estimated salary range for this role is between $75,000 to $90,000, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
