Here's how a Corporate Accountant for PCL Constructors Inc. within Edmonton NAHQ contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Processes corporate credit card statements and employee expense statements.
  • Assists with intercompany billings and payables between all PCL companies.
  • Assists with corporate accounts payables and receivables processes.
  • Assists with monthly bank and clearing accounts reconciliations.
  • Assists with monthly sales tax reconciliations and remittances.
  • Assists with year-end procedures as assigned.
  • Assists with cost reallocations associated with the review of department expense accounts for planning.
  • Assists with identifying processes as candidates for streamlining.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains strong, customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Values and models the solution provider and profitability culture.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline preferred.
  • Some co-op experience or 6 months to 1 year of accounting experience an asset.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash flows.
  • Understanding of GAAPs (generally accepted accounting principles).
  • Business acumen and understanding of industry practices and new developments, including introductory knowledge of construction industry; understands general construction terms and processes.
  • Aware of relevant government legislation and PCL policies and procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment in a highly matrix organization.
  • Organizational skills, high level of detail orientation, and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines.
