This position is a contract role, working out of our office in Nisku, AB.

Responsibilities

  • Screens résumés, conducts interviews, and maintains an up-to-date pipeline of skilled craft workers.
  • Actively sources candidates through online platforms (Indeed, LinkedIn, job boards) to support project workforce needs.
  • Creates and manages job postings aligned with PCL branding and project requirements.
  • Collaborates with workforce management and project teams to assess current and forecasted labour needs.
  • Develops and implements recruitment strategies aligned with project demands and timelines.
  • Tracks recruitment metrics and identifies opportunities to improve hiring effectiveness and processes.
  • Applies and interprets collective agreements and project-specific guidelines within recruitment practices.
  • Ensures hiring activities align with labour agreements, workforce plans, and client requirements.
  • Validates trade qualifications through apprenticeship boards and certificate-issuing authorities.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential workforce documentation, including apprentice records and safety certifications.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with project teams, site leadership, and labour relations stakeholders.
  • Communicates job expectations, compensation, and project details to candidates.
  • Conducts strategic market research to propose information such as hiring demographic, expenses associated with travel allowance and accommodations, and provincial wage rates at the bidding stages of projects.
  • Develops and maintains an effective network with other senior HR professionals and participates in associations, as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of recruitment experience, preferably in a trades or construction environment.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle recruitment processes and talent acquisition strategies.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship programs, trade certifications, and labour market conditions.
  • Basic understanding of labour relations, collective agreements, and employment legislation.
  • Experience using online recruiting tools and job platforms (Indeed, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Business acumen and ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor or support junior recruiters is considered an asset.
