We are seeking an Health, Safety and Environment Student, for our North American Headquarters district in Edmonton, AB, that is available for 4 - 12 months starting in January 2027. This position will be under the direct supervisor of the Director, HSE Programs.

 

As a Health, Safety and Environment Student, you will gain hands-on experience supporting corporate HSE initiatives and workplace safety programs through

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSE programs, procedures, and other resources.
  • Assisting with research, analysis, and project work related to Corporate HSE initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Supporting change management, communications, and implementation activities for new or revised HSE programs.
  • Coordinating stakeholder reviews and maintaining HSE documentation, records, and supporting materials.
  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing HSE information to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
  • Participating in field, campus, and workplace visits to build practical knowledge of HSE requirements and their application.
  • Participating in workplace inspections, hazard identification, incident management, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Collaborating with Corporate HSE, Resources, Facilities, and other business partners to implement campus safety improvements.
  • Assisting with Joint Work Site Health and Safety Committee activities, including meeting preparation, documentation, and action tracking.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Foundational knowledge of HSE principles, hazard identification, and risk assessment.
  • Ability to research, analyze information, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn in a collaborative, continuous improvement environment.
