Here's how an Instructional Designer for PCL Constructors Inc. within Edmonton NAHQ contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Completes the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of entry-level to intermediate behavioral and technical courses or programs.
- Applies adult learning methodologies to deliver online and instructor-led courses or programs.
- Acts as project lead for assigned initiatives and programs and applies the principles of project and time management to track tasks/deadlines.
- Works with subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop curricula.
- Assesses and monitors the effectiveness of courses and the needs of the learners and modifies instructional strategies, improving effectiveness as needed.
- Researches and applies best practices and industry trends.
- Uses rapid authoring tools to develop e-learning and strengthen instructor-led courses or programs.
- Provides company-wide support and consultation services on all matters related to learning and development initiatives at PCL.
- Manages the preparation of course materials, including pre- and post-course work.
- Develops and maintains strong, customer-focused relationships with all interest holders.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred.
- 5 years of progressive experience with training delivery and/or facilitation in a corporate environment preferred.
- Experienced in using various instructional design approaches, instruction methodologies, and learner-centric design and learning solutions to design and implement new courses or program. Demonstrated experience in the application of adult learning theory and practices.
- Ability to deliver effective learning (instructor-led or online) to a diverse group of participants with varying knowledge, experience, and backgrounds.
- Effective relationship building, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to research and analyze information, staying current with industry advancements and knowledge.
- Strong organizational skills, a high level of detail orientation, and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines to effectively manage demands and projects.
- Knowledge of organizational change-management methodologies is an asset; as is intermediate-level business acumen.
