Here's how a(n) Senior Manager Integrated Construction Technology for our Edmonton NAHQ office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that virtual models from plans, specifications, and elevations are built and reviewed.
  • Leads department and/or company-wide process improvement activities.
  • Liaises with estimating to establish and manage staffing resources and budgets for new pursuits and projects.
  • Participates in project interviews and proposal writing in respect to virtual design construction (VDC) and other integrated technologies.
  • Leads the development of standards and best practices associated with the setup of digital workflows.
  • During the pursuit stage, works with the project team to review and recommend scopes that VDC tools and processes can be incorporated into the project and allocates VDC resources accordingly.
  • Participates in the pursuit and proposal of a project including the narrative and presentation material development.
  • Establishes VDC and ICT contract language and/or ensures it is incorporated into the design or subcontract agreement.
  • Initiates the setup of managing the trade partner model-coordination process and allocates VDC resources, as required.
  • Establishes multidiscipline construction models and project modeling standards.
  • Leads new project technology kick-off meetings and works with the project team to execute the technology strategy for district projects.
  • Promotes and influences the use of virtual construction tools and processes at the project and district levels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree, diploma, or 2-year certificate in a buildings-industry related discipline (e.g., architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), civil, architectural).
  • 15+ years of construction-related industry experience including 6+ years of Virtual Design and Construction-related experience.
  • Expert understanding of construction sequences.
  • Expert understanding of and proven experience implementing construction technology.
  • Ability to develop organizational model management procedures.
  • Expert knowledge of the building construction process and the various building components involved at each stage of construction.
  • Expert ability to oversee and ensure the quality of building information models from design and trade partners.
  • Advanced understanding of trade detailing and design workflows.
  • Advanced understanding and training in 3D modeling software.
  • Experience with 4D scheduling software and planning tools.
  • Ability to write a Building Information Model (BIM) execution plan.
  • Experience translating project schedule and scope to create a VDC schedule.
  • Advanced understanding of contract language and how it affects project risk with respect to BIM and construction technology.
