Here's how a(n) Technical Training Manager for our Edmonton NAHQ office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Advises, consults, and collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to offer and deliver technical training courses
- Oversees the faculty of Technical Training and aligns team vision, strategy, and outcomes with organizational goals and business needs.
- Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors team, including direct reports.
- Assesses the needs of the course participants and modifies instructional strategies.
- Leads the development of standards and processes for efficiency, consistency and quality.
- Evaluates technical courses or programs for effectiveness and impact.
- Communicates new and/or updated technical courses company-wide through partnerships.
- Leads a team of Technical Training coordinator and Technical Training Specialists
- Creates project plans for key or large-scale projects based on employee strength and development needs, and assigns tasks and responsibilities accordingly. Provides regular reports on the status of deliverables, evaluations, and outcomes of project goals.
- Anticipates the skills needed for future work and helps to plan technical training opportunities.
- Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment with priorities and initiatives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience. 5 years of experience in training and professional development, instructional design, and course development.
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Advanced understanding of the construction industry and construction project life cycle.
- Technical Construction experience considered an asset.
- Understanding of adult learning theory and practices. Various instructional design approaches, instruction methodologies, and learner-centric design and learning solutions and new developments.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills, with the proven ability to negotiate, influence, and present ideas and content that contributes to Professionals.
- Advanced business acumen, with an understanding of industry practices and new developments.
- Seen as a trusted advisor with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
- Ability to assess participant needs during delivery and adapt facilitation as require
- Exhibits strong leadership skills, with the ability to delegate and coordinate activities effectively and lead and motivate professional development professionals.
- Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning programs.
