In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the skills and knowledge of our technical workforce. The ideal candidate is passionate about learning and possesses a deep understanding of adult learning methodologies in a technical context.

 

Here's how an Technical Training Specialist for our Edmonton NAHQ office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and instructional designers to design, develop, and update courses.
  • Deliver or co-facilitate technical training programs for employees at various skill levels. 
  • Assesses the needs of the participants/learners and adjusts instructional strategies.
  • Contributes to standardizing, streamlining, and enhancing the technical training program at PCL.
  • Administers online courses, assessments, case studies, and evaluations.
  • Responds to inquiries from stakeholders (learners, subject matter experts, instructional designers, facilitators, and human resources and professional development teams) on technical curriculum, course contents, and case studies; writes reports, and new course business cases.
  • Researches best practices, advancements, and trends in the construction industry, and identifies opportunities for incorporating them in the training program.
  • Identifies needs for new course development and works with relevant stakeholders to maintain and update existing courses.
  • Supports the development of training plans, scheduling courses, and delivering training.
  • Promotes PCL’s learning and collaborative culture.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in engineering, project management or related field.
  • Experience in developing courses, teaching, conducting training or facilitation.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with a strong ability to connect with an audience of industry professionals.
  • 5-7 years of project or field experience in construction industry is an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of construction and project management process, best practices, and relevant technical competencies.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, guidelines related to engineering and construction practice.
  • Professional designation such as PEng, PMP, CET, GSC, CPC would be an asset.
  • Willing to travel within North America.
  • Proficiency in French would be considered an asset.
