Here's how a District HRPD Advisor for PCL Industrial Construction Co. contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Leads staff recruitment and onboarding programs, including recruitment for senior-level positions, using effective sourcing strategies and industry relationships to build a strong candidate pipeline.
- Supports and enhances student program strategy to align with district goals and maintains relationships with academic institutions.
- Leads the communication and implementation of HRPD programs, policies, and practices, ensuring district compliance with corporate policy and applicable legislation.
- Provides guidance and coaching to HR staff, employees, and managers on HRPD programs, policies, and legislative interpretation.
- Participates in district HRPD strategic planning and leads assigned district-level initiatives such as training plans and health and wellness programs.
- Develops and maintains the district HRPD budget.
- Leads local market research and analysis for new work bids and annual compensation cycles, supporting internal and external equity through effective compensation administration.
- Oversees and audits HR data to ensure accuracy and integrity across systems.
- Provides guidance, coaching, and training related to career management.
- Guides supervisors through progressive discipline processes for entry- to mid-level roles, including performance improvement plans and employee relations matters up to and including termination.
- Leads investigations and communicates outcomes, supporting the District HRPD Manager on complex investigations.
- Conducts exit interviews for voluntary terminations.
- Provides data analysis and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Leads district training initiatives, including delivery of district-level training programs and facilitation sessions.
- Supports implementation of corporate and regional initiatives in partnership with the District HRPD Manager.
- Uses critical thinking to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend solutions.
- Manages special projects as assigned.
- Provides coaching and mentoring to junior HRPD staff.
- Leads and participates in teambuilding activities, encouraging an inclusive, positive, trust-based environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related discipline preferred/Completion of HR designation preferred.
- 7 years of progressive human resources experience preferred.
- 3 years of industrial construction experience preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Supervisory experience an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of HRPD-related principles, practices, procedures, and employment legislation.
- Able to tactfully and diplomatically deal with people and act with discretion when handling confidential information.
- Able to interpret and analyze information and data and make recommendations.Strong business acumen, with an understanding of industry practices and new developments.
- Able to work independently or in a team environment in a highly matrixed organization.
- Able to effectively manage a team comprising of entry-level human resources professionals.
- Seen as a trusted advisor with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and to present ideas and content that influence a favorable outcome.
- Strong organizational skills, high level of detail orientation, and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in training and facilitation and in managing complex facilitated sessions.
- Demonstrated experience using strategic thinking and initiative.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to think and act quickly.
- Willing and able to cross-train and provide backup to coworkers in the department when necessary.
- Must be able to work effectively and collaboratively, contributing positively to shared goals in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
- Proven track record of having difficult (but necessary) conversations.
