Here's how a HSE Supervisor for PCL Industrial Construction Co. within US PICCo contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and assists with implementation of project or facility HSE plans (PSP, ERP, EPP, Security) and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifies, evaluates, develops, and delivers project or facility specific HSE training and orientations.
  • Liaises with project team to provide project-specific information and statistics to develop trends and assists with the creation of trend action plans.
  • Implements district HSE communication strategy on projects or facilities.
  • Recognizes, evaluates, and advises on suite of PCL hazard identification, (e.g., project sites, permanent facilities).
  • Leads HSE inspections, including LSA focus inspections.
  • Completion of the I-CAB assessment report and development plan.
  • Supports corrective action revision recommendations to project/facility management and HSE management.
  • Identifies any specialized personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and provides and/or coordinates any required training.
  • Develops and evaluates success of project emergency response plan.
  • Assists project management and supervision with the development and evaluation of site-specific security requirements.
  • Works with project management to develop the environmental plan, evaluates the success of the plan and may make recommendations to project/facility management and HSE management.
  • Participates in internal and external audits as assigned. Assists project/facility management and HSE management in audit process.
  • Participates in trade partners’ safety performance audits to ensure compliance with HSE programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) or a related discipline. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) preferred (CDN). Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certificate preferred (US).
  • Strong knowledge of construction, industrial processes, and terminology.
  • Intermediate ability to provide coaching and mentoring to others.
  • Proven knowledge of applicable OH&S, environmental, and workers’ compensation in assigned legislative jurisdictions, with the ability to learn applicable OH&S, environmental, and workers’ compensation in other legislative Jurisdictions.
  • Proven knowledge of HSE processes and implementation.
  • Proven planning, organization, and time management skills to establish the priority and scheduling of work tasks.
  • Influences the project team and craft workers regarding HSE responsibilities.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills, with the ability to handle and resolve conflict with trade partners/supervisors.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to develop and deliver presentations on HSE awareness/topics.
  • Strong ability to establish, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of incident investigation and event learning models and trains junior HSE team members on these models.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable systems.
