As a Proposal Specialist for PCL California Buildings, you will lead the development of winning pursuits for PCL's largest and fastest-growing region. Every day, you'll collaborate with a cross-functional team of creatives, builders, and executives to help our people connect with clients, colleagues, and our community. You'll do this by developing audience-specific content that enhances relationships, advances our business, and articulates PCL's brand and value proposition in the marketplace. To thrive in this role, you must have experience successfully producing persuasive business-to-business copy, collateral, and presentations.
Here's how a Proposals Specialist for our California Buildings district located in any of our Glendale, Irvine, or San Diego offices will contribute to our team:
What you’ll do to make an impact:
• Provide comprehensive, strategic writing and editing support for all general qualifications; executive summaries; win themes; personnel resumes, project descriptions, summary paragraphs, action captions, and benefit statements.
• Responsibilities include coordinating all elements of pursuits: strategy development, messaging, formatting, proofreading, coordination with graphics, editing/review, compliance, brand adherence, and efficient and timely production.
• Acts as project manager of proposal efforts, including lead kick-off meeting to define expectations, identify tasks and develop production schedule; develop win themes; complete tasks and assigned responsibilities and adhere to proposal schedule; draft/edit text; schedule reviews; final submittal production and delivery.
• Use project management and communication skills to manage, organize, and prioritize multiple projects and meet competing deadlines. Diagnoses issues in need of escalation; promptly report issues to Manager and ask for guidance.
• Participates in business development and strategy meetings as needed, supporting the development of content for proposals, and creating marketing collateral.
• Research and compile information from both external and internal sources, including a variety of databases and data sources (internet, company intranet, previous proposals, etc.)
• Archive proposal content by uploading to appropriate internal databases as part of proposal closeout procedures.
• Support events, communications, and branding efforts to enhance PCL’s position in the market.
What you’ll bring to the team:
• You want to make a big impact. You’re a competitive, strategic thinker with a strong ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
• You have experience coordinating the planning, development, and production of winning proposals from start to finish with the support of cross-departmental teams of five or more.
• You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are proficient at translating analytical information into creative, audience-specific copy and messaging that engages and persuades the targeted audience.
• You are proficient in using marketing and presentation software, including Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and OneNote)
• You have experience working with graphic designers and project stakeholders to build creative, compelling presentations and marketing collateral.
• You are strategic with your time and resources. You loathe inefficiency and can execute lean, quality-focused pursuit processes that foster collaboration and improve team performance.
• You thrive in a dynamic, collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
• A bachelor's degree in marketing or communications is not required but is preferred.
• CPSM or PMP certification is not required but preferred.

PCL combines numerous pay and benefit strategies to provide a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package. Any salary range displayed by a job board is an estimate. Your salary, which considers your unique qualifications and experience, is just one component of the robust total rewards you'll enjoy at PCL. This may include an employee share purchase offering, discretionary annual performance bonus, comprehensive benefits and wellness programs, retirement plan plus matching, and career development programs.
The salary range for this position is $77,000 and $97,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
