Here's how a Business Intelligence and Analytical Developer for our US PICCo office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Liaises with business, technology, and support teams to ensure business requirements are met
  • Translates business needs to design, develop, and maintain production reports and dashboards
  • Acquires data from a variety of structured and unstructured data sources
  • Designs and develop business data models to support self-service BI and analytics 
  • Develops and maintain ETL/ELT processes 
  • Write queries to retrieve data using Microsoft SQL or leveraging Microsoft Fabric to get data
  • Creates and maintain technical documentation
  • Defines test plans and execute test cases to ensure BI content processes meet quality assurance standards
  • Ensures BI content follows and meets PCL’s data governance and security policies
  • Manages the implementation, roll out, and direct support of production reports and dashboards
  • Deliver presentations/training to the business on created production reports and dashboards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science (or equivalent education) 
  • The candidate has 3+ years of design and development experience in business intelligence, data management, and data modeling
  • Extensive hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI is required.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with ETL/ELT development
  • Solid understanding of data modeling and relational database design (DAX Expression) and implementation techniques 
  • Experience in UI/UX development as it applies to dashboard and report design considered an asset
  • Excellent problem-solving and data-analysis skills
  • Strong with Microsoft office suite of tools - Microsoft Fabric and SQL Server/ T - SQL knowledge is preferred. 
  • Experience in the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements analysis, design, development, QA, maintenance, and CI/CD and version control tools considered an asset
  • Effective communication and writing skills necessary to effectively lead technical discussions and information-gathering sessions
  • In addition to the technical skills listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
    • Positive, can-do attitude, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple development projects simultaneously
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be flexible, stay organized, and maintain attention to detail and accuracy
    • Aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies and solutions
