Here's how a Solar Project Coordinator for PCL Constructors Pacific Rim PTY Ltd. within Solar Australia contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Maintains contract with select subcontractors and is responsible for some subcontract administration, including defining work scope, answering inquiries, & monitoring progress.
  • Reviews & understands contract obligations as per the responsible work scope.
  • Assists with change management and change order process, including pricing, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact before reviewing with project  manager.
  • Develops and monitors overall project schedule.
  • Consults with designers/engineers when reviewing drawings and suggests value added or alternative construction methods or materials.
  • Maintains and performs project document control and procedures and interpret working drawings, engineering designs and technical documents to co-ordinate onsite construction sequences (administering RFIs, shop drawing and submittal process, maintaining as-built drawings, etc.) (BLDG and CIVIL).
  • Co-ordinates and supervises on-site execution phase of Solar PV projects leveraging their education and experience in the renewable energy industry and construction management.
  • Coordinates with internal teams (engineering, procurement, construction) and external stakeholders (clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors) leveraging good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Prepares and distributes project status reports, meeting minutes, and action items demonstrating strong organizational and administrative capability.
  • Oversees inventory and tracking of materials and equipment, management of logistics, and expedites material orders.
  • Assists with site inspections to resolve constructability and site coordination issues and reviews and sign offs on functionality, requirements, and code compliance.
  • Provides proactive leadership for safety and quality programs. Prepares and tracks progress claims and estimates.
  • May be required to mentor project interns / students and develop & maintain strong stakeholder relationships. 
  • Assists in overall construction coordination and planning.
  • Identifies and assists in resolving field technical issues.
  • Involved in and assists with overall project closeout, including document archival, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education or training in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred
  • Solar specific experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, project health, safety and environment (HSE), quality, and required standards as per discipline.
  • Intermediate knowledge of means and methods and construction sequences.
  • Ability to apply basic engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges.
  • Basic knowledge of construction law and applicable codes and standards.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of decision-making authority and ability to present solutions.
  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize own work, and delegate simple tasks.
  • Ability to create a comprehensive schedule.
  • Ability to administer subcontracts and contract documents.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology
