Here is how an HSE Manager for our Montreal office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Reviews internal HSE policies and practices to ensure they are current, appropriate, implemented, and communicated to the district.
- Develops district-specific training.
- Develops district HSE communication strategy.
- Develops and rolls out district-specific safety plan in conjunction with district management.
- Oversees and conducts formal HSE inspections and audits.
- Conducts audits to evaluate district HSE processes and creates action plans accordingly.
- Develops and evaluates the effectiveness of the district/project emergency response plan.
- Monitors and evaluates the execution of the environmental plan for the district.
- Conducts risk management assessment of trade contractor safety performance and communicates findings to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Participates in the investigation process as per the incident investigation matrix and determines when external resources are required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in OH&S or a related discipline.
- CRSP certification preferred (CDN).
- CSP certificate preferred (US).
- 10 years of experience in a related industry, with direct experience in HSE.
- 4 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, execution, and terminology.
- Develops, evaluates, and makes recommendations for HSE process.
- Strong ability to coach and mentor others.
- Expert knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation related to the district.
- Proven ability to influence, coach, and mentor others on district HSE process.
- Strong communication and presentation skills on HSE topics to district management, corporate, or clients.
- Conflict resolution, with the ability to manage and effectively resolve conflict with contractors/owners and influence others towards resolution in high-pressure situations.
