We are seeking a Communications Student, for our Toronto District, within our Canadian Buildings Division that are available for 4 month or 8 months starting May 2025. 
As a Communications Student and depending on your assigned project, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Toronto District Communications team to develop and implement communications plans and tactics that support key strategic objectives, engaging both internal and external audiences.
  • Researching, writing, and proofreading a wide range of engaging content for internal and external audiences, including articles, social media posts, website content, news releases, project profiles, executive communications, and proposal narratives.
  • Writing, coordinating and managing distribution and analytics of the district’s weekly internal newsletter.
  • Coordinating the development and execution of projects/initiatives, as assigned.
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer-focused relationships with our internal stakeholders.
  • Track media coverage, identify relevant trends, aggregate data, and measure analytics.
  • Support ongoing research and maintenance of media lists and media kits, communications process documents, project information and award tracking etc.
  • Consistently applying PCL Construction’s branding to communication deliverables.
  • Ability to adapt writing for both internal (conversational) and external (formal) audiences. Work with our communications specialist to support community involvement initiatives and campaigns.
  • Has attention to detail when it comes to writing articles, including an understanding of AP Style and writing best practices.

 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or diploma in journalism, public relations, corporate communications or digital communications, with sound knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations and content marketing.
  • Strong writer with excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
  • A team player with a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Self-driven with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively and take initiative in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment.

  • A critical thinker with sound decision making skills.
  • Ability to research, analyze and organize information accurately and effectively. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Previous experience in a professional environment or co-op/intern experience is considered an asset

The estimated hourly range for this role is $19.57 - $28.69, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
