We are seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Estimating Student for our Toronto District that is available for a minimum of 4 months starting in May 2026. 

 

Here’s how a Mechanical & Electrical Estimating Student at our Toronto office contributes to the team:

Responsibilities

 

  • Understand and utilize PCL’s estimating manuals, systems and forms.
  • Review quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Chief Estimator.
  • Gets the chance to perform assigned quantity survey and transfer quantities to the lead estimator.
  • Provides quantities of major purchase items to purchasing department for pricing.
  • Creates an impact by performing general subtrade solicitation duties and helping with bid document control.
  • Has the opportunity to perform bid day assignments.
  • Experiences visiting the job sites periodically.
  • Develops relationships with subcontractors.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have taken a building envelope or building science course, and understand the fundamental control layers required within the building envelope (i.e. air, water, vapour and thermal control)
  • Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment, able to read architectural drawings, and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
  • Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

The estimated hourly range for this role is $21.37- $31.34, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
