With a significant footprint in Australia within the renewables sector, we are looking to welcome a Construction Manager to our Solar team to oversee mechanical operation in country New South Wales. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with our project managers to ensure implementation of PCL’s safety program, including integrating PCL’s safety program into all site plans and procedures and adhering to all safety and record-keeping requirements.
  • Supervise, direct, coach, train, and mentor your team, which include direct and indirect reports as well as sub trades.
  • Communicate with multiple stakeholders to ensure that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.  
  • Proactively manage time, quality and financial metrics. 
  • Liaise between field engineers, estimators, trades and other stakeholders to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules. 
  • Review and understand the contract and subcontracts, in order to develop a plan that identifies and mitigates risk and maximises opportunities to ensure all financial targets, including budgets, forecasts and profitability levels are met. 
  • Maintain project administration correspondence and complies with documentation requirements. 

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary diploma / engineering degree in a related discipline. 
  • Minimum two years prior experience working on an Australian Solar farm. 
  • Minimum two years prior experience managing a construction workforce on an Australian Solar farm. 
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in renewables construction sector and operations, including building materials and construction specifications/methods. 
  • Proficient understanding of and ability to apply logic to the schedule in order to build a plan using scheduling software.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a construction project, including scheduling, monitoring, and coordinating own forces work (OFW) and trade contractors with three-week lookahead schedules. 
  • Ability to complete material, labor and equipment takeoffs.
