With a significant footprint in Australia within the renewables sector, we are looking to welcome a Mechanical Superintendent to our Solar team to oversee mechanical operations in country New South Wales.
OVERIVEW
This role will supervise the mechanical aspects of Solar farm construction projects to ensure that the assembly, erection and functionality of our panels are carried out efficiently and in compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for site supervision, resource co-ordination, and technical oversight to support the successful delivery of mechanical works during the construction cycle.
Responsibilities

Supervise the installation, commissioning and maintenance of mechanical and process plant equipment within our solar farm construction site(s).

Supervise, direct and support site personnel, subcontractors and trades working on mechanical aspects of our solar farm construction projects.

Work with our project managers, designers, engineers and construction teams to integrate mechanical systems into construction projects and ensure implementation of PCL’s safety program, including integrating PCL’s safety program into all site plans and procedures and adhering to all safety and record-keeping requirements.

Liaise between field engineers, estimators, trades and other stakeholders (including contractors and sub-contractors) to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications and timely delivery of, materials and labour (including mechanical construction components).

Conduct regular mechanical safety inspections (including quality control inspections) and risk assessments to proactively mitigate hazards and enforce best practices and communicate with multiple stakeholders to ensure that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.

Proactively manage time, quality and financial metrics.

Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and maintain resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules to manage timelines effectively.

Review and understand contract and subcontracts, in order to develop a plan that identifies and mitigates risks and maximises opportunities to ensure all financial targets, including budgets, forecasts, and profitability levels are met.

Maintain project administration correspondence and comply with documentation and reporting requirements.

Supervise, direct, coach, train and mentor your team, which include direct and indirect reports as well as sub-trades.
Qualifications

Postsecondary diploma / engineering degree in a related discipline or a minimum two years prior experience working in a similar role, on an Australian solar farm construction project.

Minimum two years prior experience in construction site supervision, project co-ordination, or a related role (mechanical experience preferred).

In-depth knowledge of and experience in renewables construction sector and operations and resource management, including building materials and construction specifications/methods.

Proficient understanding of and ability to apply logic to the schedule to build a plan using scheduling software.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts related to mechanical works.

Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a construction project, including scheduling, monitoring, and coordinating own forces work (OFW) and trade contractors with three-week lookahead schedules.

Ability to complete material, labor, and equipment takeoffs.
