Here's how an Electrical and Controls Commissioning Engineer for our Civil Infrastructure office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

•    Collaborates with vendors and specialists to test electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, ensuring all safety and process interlocks comply with the client's process narratives.
•    Identifies and provides possible solution for considerations to resolve issues in control and instrumentation systems during commissioning.
•    Maintains comprehensive records of commissioning activities, test results, and any modifications made.
•    Reviews P&IDs, Flow Diagrams, and Single Line Diagrams in accordance with the Project Execution Plan to perform startup and commissioning activities, including Lockout/Tagout.
•    Performs and applies quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress, reporting, and change management. 
•    Reviews and understands broader contract obligations per the responsible project and work scope.
•    Participates in reviews of subcontractors’ submittals for compliance with scope, design documentation, and coordination with other disciplines against the design documentation prior to forwarding to the design team for their review.  
•    Assists with site inspection by the design team for installation deficiencies and witnesses and signs off on systems commissioning. 
•    Ability to identify potential risks on project scopes and/or the project.
•    Other duties as required.  
 

Qualifications

•    Associates or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture preferred, or equivalent experience.
•    4–6 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred. 
•    Detailed knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, project health, safety, and environment (HSE), quality, building materials, and required standards as per subject area. 
•    Ability to apply basic engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges. 
•    Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. 
•    Proven flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
•    Planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize own work, and direct-report tasks. 
•    Troubleshooting experience to diagnose and identify possible solutions for fixing issues in control systems.
•    Knowledge of use of HART Communicator, 4-20mA simulator, and/or other testing equipment for loop checks and simulations.
•    Experience with sensors, transmitters, VFDs, and other instrumentation and control devices.
•    Expertise in PLCs, SCADA systems, or other similar control technologies.
