Here's how a(n) Construction Manager for our solar project site office in Stubbo, New South Wales, Australia, contributes to our team mobilizing in June 2023:
Responsibilities
- Works with the Project Manager and Senior Construction Manager to implement PCL’s safety program and maintain safety and record-keeping requirements.
- Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors’ members of the solar farm project team, including direct and indirect reports.
- Effectively communicates with subcontractors and ensures that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.
- Effectively and consistently collaborates with Project Manager, Senior Construction Manager, Construction Managers and project team.
- With a background in utility scale solar projects, advises Project Manager and/or Senior Construction Manager of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.
- Liaises between Site Engineers, Design Engineers and Estimators to ensure solar farm construction complies with drawings and specifications as required.
- Proactively contributes to the implementation of the Environmental Impact Strategy (EIS), Construction Environment Management Plan (CEMP) and resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules.
- Monitors and executes the Project Management Plant (PMP) and schedule.
- Reviews and understands the prime contract and subcontracts, including understanding risk and risk mitigation plans.
- Maintains project administration correspondence and complies with documentation requirements relevant to utility scale, solar project construction and construction projects.
- Develops and maintains strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Journeyman certificate or Bachelor's or Associate's in engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
- 5 years of progressive experience in construction management preferred; Successful supervision of a solar project workforce preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of and experience in solar farm industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, and methods and procedures.
- Understanding of project scope and ability to apply basic engineering principles and embed solutions in solar farm plans and schedules.
- Proficient understanding of and ability to apply logic to the schedule to build a plan using scheduling software.
- Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a solar farm project, including scheduling, monitoring, and coordinating own forces work (OFW) and trade contractors with three-week lookahead schedules.
- Thorough understanding of contract language with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and identify and leverage opportunities.
- Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with the client, consultants, trades, own forces work, and internal employees; ability to present at client meetings or for project pursuit work.
- Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills, problem-solving abilities, and professional judgment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems.
