Here's how a Commercial Manager for our Solar Australia office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Work as integral portion of procurement team to facilitate award and contract execution of major subcontracts and supply agreements. Coordinates with relevant technical stakeholders and legal counsel to streamline negotiations process.
- Lead commercial negotiations between PCL and major subcontractors and suppliers. Includes coordination with external counsel and drafting of commercial terms where applicable throughout the early works phase of contract.
- Participate in commercial negotiations between PCL and Clients to ensure commercial term alignment across PCL’s business.
- Support the timely resolution of commercial or contractual matters with due consideration of alternative or competing priorities, interfacing with engineering, legal and transaction specialists.
- Manage the preparation of procurement, packaging and delivery plans including tender evaluation plans and contract management plans, including obtaining relevant sign offs from stakeholders and advisors.
- Prepare briefings and submissions in relation to approval for the different procurement phases of projects.
- Monitor contractor progress and compliance against contractual obligations throughout the delivery phase.
- Analyse and assess all claims during the delivery phase.
Experience
- Sound understanding of complex commercial, risk and contractual issues at all stages of construction project life cycles and experience in navigating and resolving these issues.
- Prior experience in preparing or reviewing tender documentation, evaluating tender proposals, negotiating contract terms and conditions, and awarding major construction contracts and other significant procurement packages within various delivery models.
- Experience working across specialist disciplines to resolve complex contractual issues and document the basis for decisions.
- Strong understanding of project risk, cost, and project reporting processes.
- Prior experience within a top tier Australian construction organisation, OEM, or developer. Previous EPC experience is an asset.
Qualifications
Bachelor (or higher) qualification in Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Law, Project Management or a related discipline is preferable.
