Here's how a Junior Estimator for PCL Constructors Canada Inc. within Winnipeg contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Supports estimators on preparing bids and proposals.
- Completes quantity, material, and labor takeoffs from project documents.
- Applies material unit prices and labaor productivities to the estimate.
- Assists with bid document control and documenting, organizing, and archiving all information relating to the estimate for successful transfer to the project team.
- Supports lead estimator with closing day assignments and the bid closing process.
- Solicits competitive pricing from subtrade partners and suppliers for pursuit.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with all stakeholders including the estimating team, subtrade partners and suppliers.
- Supports updating maintenance of our subtrade database information.
- Attends pre-bid site visits with senior staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
- Experience in a construction environment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of the construction industry and key principles involved in bid preparation.
- Understands and uses takeoff systems.
- Ability to converse with and solicit trades and comfortable with cold-calling.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders including the ability to solicit subtrade partners and suppliers.
- Working knowledge of estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
